LeRoy H. Brorson, a Certified Public Accountant, is a member of the AICPA, TSCPA and Dallas Chapter of the TSCPA. Mr. Brorson graduated from Southern Methodist University obtaining his B.B.A. in 1972 with high honors and received his M.B.A. in 1975 majoring in finance and accounting.
From 1966 to 1975, he was employed by Cornell Oil Company and Toddy Lee Wynne’s American Liberty Oil Company as an accountant where he specialized in oil and gas, gas plants, hotels, manufacturing, farming and ranching. He was also responsible for extensive personal and corporate tax planning, consolidated financial statements and the decentralized accounting functions for various subsidiary companies.
LeRoy founded the present CPA practice in 1975. In earlier years, his emphasis was supporting entrepreneurial businesses, many of which have remained clients for over thirty years. He has represented a diverse array of clients involved in activities ranging from the various professions to real estate, oil and gas, communications, retail, manufacturing and financial institutions. As the firm has grown to acquire specialists in tax and other areas, Mr. Brorson has spent the majority of his time in the areas of consulting, tax planning, financial and estate planning, and litigation support including being an expert witness. He has also served as a trustee for numerous trusts.
Presently he is a shareholder, partner or officer of several entities in addition to the C.P.A. practice and serves on the Board of Directors of several private companies. He spends time on these entities dealing with issues such as compensation and benefits, insurance, internal controls and helps analyze various managerial problems and planning decisions.
Wm. Lewis Thomas, Jr., a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Valuation Analyst, is a member of the AICPA, TSCPA, Dallas Chapter of the TSCPA and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. Lewis graduated from the University of Houston in 1971 in Communications, received his accounting education at the University of Texas at Austin in the mid 1970’s and received his Masters in 1994 from Texas A&M University-Texarkana in Business Administration.
Lewis worked four years for the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. He spent another four years as a Controller for a retail lighting business then a check verification company. Lewis entered public accounting in 1981 with Shelby, Rucksdashel and Jones, a regional accounting firm with a specialty in the savings and loan industry. Next, he was the Tax Partner of Holliday, Lemons, Thomas & Cox, a large local CPA firm in Texarkana, Texas for 13 years. Moving back to the Dallas area, Lewis joined Lane, Gorman, Trubitt, L.L.P. as a principal specializing in complex corporate tax matters. There, Lewis was awarded the Lane, Gorman, Trubitt Client Service Excellence Award. Lewis then spent a couple of years at Excel Communications as their Senior Manager of Tax Research and Planning before joining Brorson and Associates as a shareholder.
Over his career, Lewis has worked with a wide variety of businesses including financial institutions, real estate, telecommunications, wholesale and retail operations, oil & gas and professional services. He was worked with business both small and up to $1 billion in both revenues and assets. He has been successful in dealing with complex tax matters, mergers and acquisitions, and in a variety of business strategies.
Valarie Fratiani is a Certified Public Accountant and member for the AICPA, TSCPA, and Dallas Chapter of the TSCPA. Valarie graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1992 and later received a Master’s of Science in Accounting degree from the University of Texas at Dallas in 1999. Valarie started her public accounting career immediately after graduation in 1992 by earning a coveted position in the tax department of Deloitte & Touche, one of the elite Big 4 public accounting firms. During her tenure at Deloitte and Touche LLP, Valarie worked with a variety of clients, including several publicly traded corporations. She was also a part of the tax team for Taco Cabana’s Initial Public Offering (IPO).
After moving to Dallas in 1996, Valarie joined Goldin, Peiser, & Peiser, LLP as a Tax Manager. In addition to tax compliance services, Valarie specialized in representing clients before the IRS in various tax controversy matters such as Installment Agreements, Offers in Compromise, Bankruptcy Support, and Lien Releases. Valarie became an accomplished negotiator with the IRS during this time.
Valarie has been a part of the Brorson and Associates, PC team since 1999. She views her role as being an essential part of her client’s business team. In addition to providing comprehensive tax services, including compliance and planning, her clients rely on her experience and expertise for many integral decisions. Her client base includes high net-worth individuals and small to medium sized businesses in a wide variety of industries including real estate, finance, professional services, and oil and gas.
Valarie manages the staff CPAs and accountants, as well as preparing and reviewing tax returns. In her spare time, Valarie manages a busy family life with two teenagers. She is an avid runner and passionate advocate for organ donation.
Anne has been a valued member of the senior management team and Brorson & Associates for over 20 years. In addition to leading the Administrative Support Team, Anne interacts with our clients in many different support roles and also serves as our very personalized customer service representative.
